Lately, the concept of being "conscious" or having a heightened awareness
around my thoughts, words, actions are front and center.
Whether it be choosing to buy in bulk, cooking more foods at home, driving
less, walking more, riding the bus or talking directly to a person instead
of emailing them over a disagreement is – living consciously.
Being mindful of each situation and making the best choices possible has
huge rewards and the potential for real long-term success in my life.
Many of my clients are on a journey of making lifestyle changes
that involve being more conscious of their eating, sleeping and exercising
habits. Some people make their choices based on what gives them immediate
gratification rather than for their highest good. Often future consequences
are ignored and excuses are justified or blamed on others instead of calling
them by a more true name, reactions.
Lasting changes occur when people replace reactionary behavior with
intelligent, mindful, conscious choices that come from a place of love –
love of Self, love of others, love for the world. I encourage my clients
to reflect on their lives and what is really important to them. I often ask them,
how does your life choices fit within your values? And what are you willing to
do to live the life you desire based on this love?
Living consciously begins with you –
Here is a quote from Thich Nhat Hanh, "When mindfulness is there you are
attentive to yourself, you are attentive to other people around you and
understanding becomes possible, compassion becomes possible."
- Being more mindful in your everyday life
- Establishing healthy boundaries
- Making the best choices possible for your highest good
- Being intentional with your actions
- Giving yourself permission to slow down
- Taking action that comes from the head and the heart
- Moving forward in your life with increased awareness
Imagine being in a state of perfect mindfulness that spills over into every
aspect of your life – eating, driving, buying, recycling, exercising,
cooking, relating, creating, rejuvenating, loving, being present and living.
What does living consciously look like to you?
Let's explore that question together.
